RUTHY DVIR

"I was born with dresses"

My relationship with clothing and fashion started already in early childhood, it

developed and grew and it has been an integral part of me ever since.

In the past I was a designer and owned a fashion house, and in fact until this very day I dream, breath and draw dresses.

I was born in Belgium and from early childhood I understood that one can "speak" through clothes and that clothes "speak" to me.

I grew up in a conservative society in which appearance was most important, and already then I realized that beautiful clothes sometimes express artificiality and concealment and this subject was like fire in my bones

The dress to me is a metaphor of my inner self, and sometimes of a tempest inside me.

For me clothing is form, fabric and color. But it can also express wholeness and divergence, boundaries and inner poetry. It is a dialogue between the outer and inner self, of what can be shown and the hidden, the whole and the broken, between the material and spiritual worlds. It is a symbol of contrasts, dark and light, pure and contaminated, freedom and enslavement, beauty and embellishment and secret and hiding.

I am drawing the spiritual aspect of a dress and its soul and I feel with my heart and soul.
